AG’s office at Ekurhuleni to evaluate audit-related issues emanating from Madlanga Commission

The office of the Auditor-General (AG) at the Ekurhuleni Municipality says it is evaluating audit-related matters after some officials were implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

It says some of the allegations that came up in the evidence led before the commission, may not have been identified during the previous auditing cycle.

Mbongeni Malunga from the AG’s office at the Ekurhuleni Municipality says they are evaluating some of these issues for the upcoming audit cycle.

“In terms of Mr. Mkhwanazi issues as well we would not have picked up through an audit process. But we are currently doing in preparation for the upcoming audits is to look at those areas on how we can incorporate them in terms of the audit process so that we are able to elevate. So thats what we are currently for the upcoming cycle. But for the previous cycle we have looked at some of the items that were coming out of the Madlanga Commission for an example, the issue of the blue light for the City of Ekurhuleni. We had looked at that and try to see if there were any vehicles of the city.”
