India has taken a 2-1 lead in the four-match T20 International series against South Africa after a hard-fought 11-run victory at Supersport Park in Centurion last night.

Batting first, the T20 World Cup champions posted a total of 219 for six in their allotted 20 overs, driven by a remarkable unbeaten century from 22-year-old Tilak Varma.

Varma scored 107 off 56 balls, hitting eight fours and seven sixes, and formed a 106-run partnership with Abhishek Sharma, who contributed 50.

South Africa ended their chase at 208 for seven, with a late surge from all-rounder Marco Jansen, who scored 54 off 17 balls.

Despite Jansen’s efforts, South Africa fell short.

The series concludes with the final match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg tomorrow.
