Police say more arrests are imminent following the arrest of four senior officials of the Molemole Municipality west of Polokwane in Limpopo.
The officials are accused of corruption related to tenders.
Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Avele Fumba says the officials will appear in court tomorrow.
“The suspects were apprehended following an intensive investigation into alleged irregularities in municipal procurement processes. It is alleged that the officials were involved in the omission of proper tender procedures, in contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act.”
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the alleged misconduct may have resulted in financial prejudice to the municipality. The exact value is still subject to verification as investigations continue,” adds Fumba.
