A Northern Cape man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for raping a minor and three women between 2016 and 2019.
Douglas Mthukwane was arrested last year and was remanded in custody until his sentencing.
He’s also been declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be recorded in the National Register for Sex Offenders
Provincial police spokesperson Molefi Shemane says the accused was released on bail when he committed the crimes, but he was then re-arrested in 2025.
“His raping spree spanned over a period of three years, between 2016 and 2019. During this period, he was accused of raping four victims between the ages of 15 and 33-years-old in the Beaconsfield area in Kimberley. He was arrested; however, he was released on bail when he committed the crimes. In 2025, the accused was arrested for rape and remained in custody until his sentencing.”
