Emfuleni Municipality confident of arrest in Rantsofu murder case

The Emfuleni Local Municipality says it’s confident police will arrest the suspect behind the murder of municipality employee Martha Rantsofu. She was the municipality’s acting accountant.
Rantsofu was shot execution style while at a tyre shop in Vanderbijlpark last month.
It is still unclear what the motive for her murder is, but reports suggest that she had identified incidents of corruption and fraud.

The Political Killings Task Team is investigating.

The Emfuleni municipality’s George Ncebesha says they will cooperate with investigations.

“The Mayor ensures that all allegations are properly investigated in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act where wrong doing identified the Mayor ensures consequence management processes are implemented and that the cases are referred to relevant law enforcement agencies. The Executive Mayor remains committed to clean governance, the protection of public funds and ensuring that anyone involved in corruption is held accountable.”
