Drug trafficking suspects back in court on 13 April

Four suspects have appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court in Gauteng’s East Rand on multiple drug trafficking and money laundering charges.

This follows a multi-provincial takedown operation by the Hawks over the weekend.

The arrests, carried out across Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and KwaZulu-Natal, stem from a lengthy investigation into a drug syndicate operating in several provinces.

The syndicates operated in the three provinces as well as in North West.

Drugs and chemicals worth an estimated R200 000 were seized during raids in Springs and Benoni.

“The accused were remanded in custody and will re-appear in the same court on the 13th of April 2026 for bail application. Major General Nombuso Khoza, the provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in the North West applauded the team for working diligently to ensure that the accused are brought to justice,”  says Hawks Spokesperson, Tinyiko Mathebula.
