ANC Eastern Cape Chairperson Oscar Mabuyane briefs the media
The African National Congress (ANC) Eastern Cape leadership is set to meet the party’s national leadership at Luthuli House in Johannesburg on Monday, to debrief them on the halting of the elective provincial conference over the weekend.
The conference failed to proceed after the Eastern Cape High Court issued an interim order against it.
This is after some members took the party to court accusing it of flawed processes before the conference.
Provincial chair Oscar Mabuyane has accused some party members outside his province of planting seeds of divisions for personal gain.
“There are some masterminds who are masterminding this. Now I can get a sense that it’s not just the battles of our province, but battles that are also sponsored elsewhere because of other national interests of moving forward. You know, at some point there would have been comrades, some of those comrades are very active now, they are protagonists of what is happening. They once left this province, went up to uLuthuli. Some of those elements are still here. It’s about control. Who is there? Am I able to control that person? If I can’t control that person, that person can’t be right,” says Mabuyane.
