Five suspected drug mules arrested at OR Tambo International

Five suspected female South African drug mules were arrested on Saturday at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport.

Police say the suspects were found with drugs worth more than R5 million concealed on their bodies.

Preliminary reports indicate that the group was headed to China via Dubai.

Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says the suspects are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Courton Tuesday.

“A search led to the discovery of drugs concealed inside their sneakers, underwear and private parts. The suspects are expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, on charges related to drug trafficking. Investigations remain ongoing.”
