Ramaphosa to wrap ANC Limpopo conference as Ramathuba takes charge

African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa is on Sunday  expected to give a closing address at the ANC Limpopo elective conference. The provincial conference has elected all the top five leaders unopposed with Dr Phophi Ramathuba as the new chairperson.

Ramathuba is the first female chairperson to lead the party in the province. The conference however had a shaky start as a party member from Malamulele had sought an urgent application in the High Court to interdict it but was unsuccessful.

“The ANC Limpopo top five leaders has only one woman, its chairperson Dr Phophi Ramathuba, falling short of party’s threshold on gender parity. There is also lack of representation of Vatsonga in the top five leaders. The party officials and delegates however say they’re looking into the national issue and not tribes. They also promise to address the gender parity in the additional members of the provincial executive committee.”
