R4 billion committed to improve Matjhabeng Municipality’s sanitation


The Matjhabeng Municipality Executive Mayor in the Free State says the government has committed over R4 billion to the improvement of the municipality’s sanitation infrastructure.

The municipality has been plagued with sewage spillages.

Mayor Thanduxolo Khalipha has lauded Water and Sanitation Minister, Pemmy Majodina for her intervention.

This as the Minister handed over the refurbished and upgraded Wastewater Treatment plant in Thabong to the municipality.

Khalipha has appealed to residents to protect the refurbished infrastructure.

“We want to thank the president came with a huge investment of R4.2 billion. We want to plead with residents to pay for services this is a year of fixing the government we will make sure that we won’t fail the people but they must now start paying services,” says Khalipha.
