AbaThembu Royal Council investigates alleged Nigerian king coronation

The AbaThembu Royal Council says it’s going to write to the Nigerian Consulate in South Africa about the alleged coronation of a Nigerian king in the Eastern Cape.

This comes after videos circulated on social media last week showing the coronation ceremony of an individual referred to as “Igwe Ndigbo Na East London.”

The Royal House of AbaThembu took to social media to deny reports stating that King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo welcomed and granted royalty to the Nigerian national.

The African Transformation Movement (ATM) Party has also slammed the coronation of the Nigerian king and has called for an investigation into the matter.

AbaThembu senior royal advisor, advocate Matthew Mpahlwa, “It’s a simple act of terror. Eastern Cape is not an annexure or a colony to Nigeria. There is not purpose for anyone to start spreading misinformation that we welcome and will give a Nigerian national royalty in the Eastern Cape who has no connection to the land that he occupies. So, it’s a simple act of terror and we treat it as such, and we are saying government must act on it. In fact, later today we will be making a call to the consular general of Nigeria to come and explain this,’ says Mpahlwa.
