More grilling for Sgt Nkosi as he returns to Madlanga Commission

Member of Gauteng’s Organised Crime Unit, Fannie Nkosi, will return to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, the commission heard that Nkosi had forwarded a list of bidders for a Tshwane Municipal Police Department tender to a man only referred to as Mr Mampane.

The man is alleged to have been the late taxi boss Mswazi Msibi’s right-hand person.

Msibi is believed to have been a member of what is referred to as the Big Five Cartel.

Evidence leader Advocate Matthew Chaskalson questioned Sergeant Nkosi about why he sent Mr Mampane the list of bidders for the Tshwane Municipal Police Department tender.

While Sergeant Nkosi was reluctant to respond, he finally told the Commission that Mr Mampane had also applied for the tender.

Nkosi further defended his actions, saying that the document was already in the public domain.

Sergeant Nkosi’s testimony before the Madlanga Commission has revealed that he shares information that is considered to be confidential with those believed to be linked to the criminal cartel.
