Accused number two in the former Bafana Bafana Captain Senzo Meyiwa murder case, Bongani Ntanzi, has accused police officers of using his phone while he was in custody.
The cross-examination of Ntanzi continues at the High Court in Pretoria, where he is on trial alongside four co-accused.
Five men are accused of Meyiwa’s murder in 2014.
Ntanzi has denied being in possession of a cell phone following his arrest in June 2020.
He says cell phone data shows there was a call back sent to one of the arresting officers, the late Sergeant Steven Mabena.
Ntanzi says, “Just to show that they were busy using this phone from this document, one can see that there’s Mabena’s number that is showing there and he has been also sent a please call me. It shows the date was the 22nd of October, 2020 and the time was 19:02, and you really say I would send a call back to your police official that arrested me?”
