Mugabe’s son, co-accused’s case postponed to March for bail hearing

The case against Bellarmine Mugabe, the son of the late former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, and his co‑accused, Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze, has been postponed to March 3 for a formal bail application.

The two appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg on Monday morning.

They are facing charges of attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice.

The accused were arrested last week after a 23-year-old gardener was shot and wounded at Mugabe’s house in Hyde Park, north of Johannesburg.

Police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says, “Indeed, the firearm that was used in the commission of the crime has not been found.”
