EFF leader Julius Malema delivers his speech at the SONA debate in Cape Town.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to close the Israeli Embassy in the country.
Malema made the call during the debate on Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Cape Town.
The relationship between South Africa and Israel remains strained, particularly due to South Africa’s criticism of Israel’s policies and actions in the Palestinian territories.
“We call on you to exhibit your courage by closing the Israeli Embassy which is a resolution of this National Assembly. You have declared their representative as persona non grata and the skies did not fall. Close their embassy and cut relations with this genocidal nation. The USA has sent a rampant racist as its diplomat in this country. We must exercise our right to refuse cooperation with the individual whose sole intention is to dictate to us what our foreign policy must be.”
