Lukanyo Calata to testify on behalf of families of Cradock 4 at TRC Cases Inquiry

Lukanyo Calata, son of Fort Calata, will testify at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Cases Inquiry in Pretoria on Friday.

He does so on behalf of the families of the Cradock Four: Fort Calata, Matthew Goniwe, Sparrow Mkhonto and Sicelo Mhauli.

They were anti-apartheid activists who were murdered by the Apartheid-era Security Branch in 1985.

Six former police officers appeared before the TRC’s Amnesty Committee and were refused amnesty.

Lukanyo Calata is expected to outline the battle the families have fought for the NPA and SAPS to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of the torture and murder of the Cradock Four.

The families claim their fight for justice has been deliberately frustrated.
