Ad Hoc committee set to request yet another extension

Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee in Cape Town will consider to request another extension on its deadline.

The committee, established to probe allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system, has already been granted two extensions.

Its original deadline was end of October last year. Its latest deadline is the 20th of February 2026.

Economic Freedom Fighter leader Julius Malema says, “The issue of asking for extention of this comm…as things unfold, its clear there are critical people we need and they see that the lifespan of this committee and they are playing delaying tactics. so we cant conclude work of this comm, before we get some of these people to come here.”

African National Congress MP, Khusela Diko, is among those who cautioned against another extension.

“We seriously caution against open ended process, seeing that we already missed two or three deadlines, unless something very serious, the ANC would not support an open ended process.”
