Newly appointed head of the National Prosecuting Authority Advocate Andy Mothibi addresses media during a joint briefing with the SAPS on 06 February 2026.
The newly appointed head of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Advocate Andy Mothibi says he is not distracted by media reports that his appointment will be challenged.
A number of civic organisations and political parties have raised concerns about his appointment, saying it was flawed.
Corruption Watch raised issues about Mothibi not being subjected to the same selection process as other candidates.
Briefing the media in Pretoria, Mothibi said he was focused on restoring trust in the NPA.
“Media reports in this regard should be served with legal or court papers, we will respond accordingly. At this point that’s all I can say. I am focusing on the work at hand at the moment.”
