In February 2025, Matlala sent Matjeng a letter about the non-performance of his contract, where she then advised him to raise the challenges with SAPS.
Matjeng admitted to evidence leader Thabang Pooe and Commissioner Sandile Khumalo SC that she acted against her employer.
Khumalo: “So my question again is whose interests are you advancing here when you give this kind of advice?”
Matjeng: “Of Mr. Matlala.”
Khumalo: “Against who?”
Matjeng: “Against my employer.”
