AgriSA welcomes AGOA one-year extension


AgriSA has welcomed the US Senate’s approval of a one-year extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau has confirmed that South Africa remains a beneficiary of AGOA.

The programme provides duty-free access to the US market for its automotive, agricultural, and manufactured goods.

It expired in September last year but has now been extended to December 31 this year.

Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Parks Tau has confirmed that South Africa remains eligible for the Africa Growth Opportunity Act.

The re-authorised AGOA programme, which gives some sub-Saharan African countries duty-free access to export products into the US market, has been extended for one more year until the 31st of December 2026.
