Suliman Carrim’s urgent application struck off the roll

The High Court in Johannesburg has struck off the roll the case of businessman Suliman Carrim’s urgent application to block the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry from issuing a subpoena to compel his to appear before it.

Carrim is accused of having dealings with alleged criminal cartel kingpin Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala.

Meanwhile, the South African Police Service (SAPS) Section Head of Quality Management Rachel Matjeng has started to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.

She is responsible for Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management at the Forensic Services Division.

A week ago President Cyril Ramaphosa accepted the commission’s interim report which recommends the investigation and prosecution of several officials including Matjeng.
