National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola briefing the media in Saulsville, 8 Dec 2025.
National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has been accused of ignoring certain reports that senior police officers provided to him on possible wrongdoing in the South African Police Service (SAPS).
That’s the submission of Captain Samuel Ramalepe before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee looking into concerns around national security.

The committee is investigating the allegations on criminal infiltration, corruption and political influence within the criminal justice system.
Captain Ramalepe says he tried to contact Masemola’s office on several occasions to no avail.
“We went to the office of General Masemola. He listened to us attentively. He gets the report, he (has been sitting) with it for two months now. Colonel Malebo calls and texts the general to say that we are being called at the Ad Hoc committee, can we see you before we go so that we can see the report? He (Masemola) responded to say he is going to Bloemfontein Police Day. I will see you. We send an SMS again, he was still not responding. There is a brigadier in his office, Brigadier Letoko, when you send (an SMS) or you call, she does not respond saying I am in a meeting I will call you. She never calls.”
Earlier, Ramalepe said there was fear around reporting corruption within the SAPS because whistleblowers are not protected.
