Former SSA official unhappy after Parly blocked him from testifying

Former State Security Agency official Xolile Mashukuca says he is disappointed that Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee has blocked him from testifying.

The committee is investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system.

It asked Mashukuca to apply for certification or security clearance from the agency, as his evidence could involve intelligence matters.

However, he insists that his testimony has nothing to do with classified information.

“I do not know if the State Security Agency will respond positively to my application, but I’m going to make it,” adds Mashukuca.

On Wednesday, former Acting National Police Commissioner Kgomotso Phahlane was accused of taking some police members to court for defamation of character after they had exposed drug dealings in the police.

That’s the testimony of three members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) before the Ad Hoc Committee looking into concerns around national security.

Their names are Colonel Darius Ramolobe, Captain Edwin Malajtie and Captain Samuel Ramalepe.

The three have made a joint oral submission regarding alleged wrongdoing within SAPS, special drug dealings, and irregular appointments.

Meanwhile, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has been accused of ignoring certain reports that senior police officers provided to him on possible wrongdoing in the SAPS.
