Former Naledi Municipal Manager to testify at Ad Hoc Committee

Former Municipal Manager of the Vryburg-based Naledi Local Municipality in the North West, Modisenyane Segapo, will on Tuesday morning testify before the Ad Hoc Committee investigating Premier Lazarus Mokgosi’s alleged misconduct.

The committee’s hearings follow Municipal Mayor Clifton Groep’s allegation that Mokgosi sought to influence former employee Thabo Appolus to alter a report concerning Segapo’s appointment after an interview process.

The incident reportedly happened in 2023, when Mokgosi was African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip in the provincial legislature.

Appolus refuted the allegations on Monday.

He says, “I am challenging all of us to look holistically at what is before us, but it will be of interest that there is no document that chairperson, Honourable Groep, will allege, to say, this was the document and this document was tampered with, and therefore fraud was committed on this document.”
