Lawyer argues that state witness planned to lie to the court

The lawyer for the third accused in the murder trial of a Limpopo pig farmer, and his former employees, has argued that the farmer and the former farm supervisor, who has turned state witness planned to lie to the court in an attempt to evade prosecution.

Accused three, William Musora’s lawyer, Desmond Nonyane, is cross-examining state witness, Rudolph De Wet, in the Polokwane High Court.

De Wet, his former employer Zacharia Olivier, and Musora are on trial for the alleged murder of two women and the disposal of their remains in a pigsty.

During his testimony, De Wet admitted that he had planned to lie while they were still in prison but later decided to tell the truth.

“I decided to testify and to become clean is the right thing to do because when I was in prison I asked God for a sign and he told me this is the right thing and the right way to do. It doesn’t matter the circumstances is going to happen, it’s the right thing to do.”
