Lesufi to deliver eulogy at funeral of three Vanderbijlpark learners

A joint funeral for three of the 14 learners who died following the tragic Vanderbijlpark crash will be held in Sebokeng in the Vaal this Sunday.

Nine funerals were held on Saturday, seven in Gauteng and two in the Free State.

The 14 learners perished when their scholar transport minibus-taxi collided with a truck along the Golden Highway in Vanderbijlpark on Monday.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi is expected to deliver a eulogy at the joint funeral at the Saul Tsotetsi hall in Sebokeng.

Grade 12 learner from Hoerskool Vanderbijlpark, Thato Moetjie; Bokamoso Mokhobo – a Grade 8 pupil also from Hoerskool Vanderbijlpark and Ofentse Jayden Vinger – a Grade 1 learner from Oliver Lodge Primary School, will be laid to rest.

The death of the learners sent shockwaves across Gauteng and the country, raising concerns about the urgent need to regulate the scholar transport sector, ensure compliance and improve driver behaviour.
