Police in Mpumalanga are searching for suspects after two Eskom employees were shot at in Riestspruit near Emalahleni.
A 39-year-old man was fatally shot while his wife, also an Eskom employee, sustained gunshot wounds.
The couple was reportedly driving from work at Kriel Power Station.
The bakkie they were travelling in was found riddled with bullet holes in the middle of the road.
Police Spokesperson Jabu Ndubane says they are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.
Ndubane says, “The deceased was shot on the upper body and 15 cartridges were found on the scene. Police are appealing to the members of the public for assistance in tracing and arresting the suspect.”
She says, “ Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is urged to contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Desmond Kgwedi on 0765096073 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or submit information via MySAPS app. All information will be treated as confidential, and callers may opt to remain anonymous.”
