Eight suspected kidnappers are expected to appear before the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court today following the successful rescue of a kidnapped man in Gauteng.
The 43-year-old victim was abducted earlier this month while travelling with his wife and was later held at a hostel in Soweto.
Police say the breakthrough came after an intelligence-driven operation, that led to multiple arrests across Johannesburg and Soweto.
Provincial spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, says the victim has since been reunited with his family.
“The victim was released from Mzimhlophe Hostel where he was kept and has been reunited with his family. All eight arrested suspects are expected to appear before Lenasia court today 19 January 2026 on a charge of kidnapping and extortion.”
