Mbalula weighs in on future of GPU in KZN

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has weighed in on the future of the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU)in KwaZulu-Natal.

The National Freedom Party (NFP), which has been described as a kingmaker pulled out of the GPU, subsequently threatening the stability of the multi-party pact in the province.

But Mbalula says that the ANC in the province is working hard to address the future of the GPU.

He took a jab at the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party which previously brought a motion of no confidence against KZN Premier Thami Ntuli.

“But we believe that that government will be in a position to weather the storm because it is stable. The problem is that the people who are supposed to lead governance in KZN were not ready. And they are not stable among themselves. And they want to bring that stability to governance. They change leadership every weekend. And how do you take such a party, which, of course, it has got the majority, but how do you take that into governance? What are you going to see there? They fight about resources among themselves and all of that.”
