Gauteng traffic police say they will be intensifying law enforcement operations on all major routes heading into the province as high traffic volumes are expected.
This as holidaymakers make their way back into Gauteng following the festive season.
High traffic volumes are expected on the N3 into Gauteng, the N1 into Pretoria, the N4 from Emalahleni and the N12 from Potchefstroom towards Johannesburg.
Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Sello Maremane says, “This operation forms part of ongoing efforts to promote road safety and show compliance with traffic laws and reduce road crashes and fatalities during periods of high traffic movement. Law enforcement officers have been deployed across major roads, supported by the increased patrols, roadside checkpoints and high visibility operations.”
