SANCO praises ANC’s historic role as liberation movement

The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) has commended the African National Congress’s (ANC) historic role as a liberation movement and recognised the sacrifices it made in the struggle for freedom and democracy in the country.

However, as a self-described vanguard of the citizens, the organisation has highlighted what it termed the blatant collapse of state-owned entities, persistent high unemployment rate, widespread corruption, and maladministration in local municipalities, leading to ongoing failures in service delivery.

SANCO, which forms part of the ANC’s alliance, is attending the party’s 114th commemoration taking place in Moruleng, in the North West.

SANCO’s national spokesperson, Mzukisi Jam, says these challenges continue to haunt the citizens of the country, even under the Government of National Unity (GNU).

“SANCO will not only be joining the ANC in celebrating the anniversary, but will also be there to listen to the president of the ANC, who is also the president of this country, speak on the priorities he outlined in 2025 and whether there has been any progress made or whether what was said was mere talk. SANCO is not expecting another set of 2026 priorities while the 2025 priorities have still not been implemented,” says Jam.
