Khanyile’s July unrest trial postponed to 26 January 2026

Durban Regional Court has postponed the trial of alleged July unrest 2021 instigator Bonginkosi Khanyile to the 26th of January 2026.

Khanyile is facing charges of incitement to commit public violence and contravening the Disaster Management Act.

The matter had to be postponed after Khanyile’s legal representative could not attend court on Monday.

It is alleged that Khanyile encouraged people to go on the rampage until former president Jacob Zuma was released from prison in 2021.

Khanyile is on bail of R5 000; meanwhile, a  few MK Party members attended the court.
