Afrika Mayibuye Movement Convention to wrap up at UJ Soweto Campus

Sunday marks the final day of the Afrika Mayibuye Movement’s National Convention, which began on Friday at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto Campus.

The party expects at least 2 000 delegates from across the country to attend, as leaders deliberate and adopt policy positions.

Afrika Mayibuye Movement was officially launched in September 2025 by Floyd Shivambu, following his exit from the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

The party is registered with the Electoral Commission, and plans to contest next year’s local government elections, with a view to participating in the 2029 national and provincial polls.
