Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says he remains confident that the matric class of 2025 will do better than the past years.
Chiloane says over 100 000 full time candidates sat for the National Senior Certificate in the province.
He was speaking during a briefing in Johannesburg on progress relating to the online admissions applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 learners for the 2026 academic year.
Chiloane says no major disruptions were recorded this year.
“Our planning and our execution has been beyond in terms of being successful. We have done everything right. I can assure parents in terms of credibility, I’m confident to say, if there’s anything out there – will come out number one in terms of our credibility on how we’ve ran this examination.”
“Well, there has been one or two areas which we were worried about, but it’s only two areas, two centres in the main, one in Daveyton, where the principal was shot, but we were able to control that situation, learners were supported, and were able to write.”
