Ramaphosa invites critics to ventilate issues through Dialogue

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appealed to those who he says have been spreading misinformation about the country to join the country’s National Dialogue to ventilate their issues.

He was speaking in a live address to the nation on Sunday.

This comes as US President Donald Trump said South Africa would not be invited to the 2026 G20 Summit in the US because of the widely discredited claim that there was a genocide against Afrikaners in South Africa and that there was a programme of land seizures against white people.

Ramaphosa has invited those in the country who are spreading such misinformation to bring their concerns to the National Dialogue.

Next year’s G20 Summit

The President has also reacted to Trump’s statement that South Africa will not be attending next year’s G20 Summit by saying SA is one of the founding members of the G20.

The President says as such, South Africa will continue participating as a full G20 member.

Infrastructure drive post-G20

President Ramaphosa says the government will continue with work to improve infrastructure in the country after intensive efforts to repair potholes and other problems in Johannesburg ahead of the G20 Summit.

He has acknowledged the inconvenience many people in Johannesburg endured because of road closures during the Summit. However, the President says the efforts to ensure a smooth G20 Summit show the importance of working together in the national interest.
