KZN Premier calls on residents to heed weather warnings

The KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Thami Ntuli, has called on residents of the province to take heed of the weather warnings that authorities issue. This comes after three people were reported missing amid heavy rains that led to flooding.

The body of a woman has been recovered.

Search and rescue operations continue for the other two people.

“It is quite unfortunate that we are continuing to lose lives when there is heavy rains, despite the fact that our call was that when alerts are given, we need to take precautions by making a point that for those who are having their houses along river banks, they relocate during heavy rains,” says Ntuli.

“Hence we are sending a strong message to our citizens, please listen to the alerts and heed the advices. When you know that you are in a zone that is hazardous, relocate,” he adds.
