Contralesa welcomes task team on traditional leader killings

The traditional leaders organisation, CONTRALESA has welcomed the establishment of a task team to investigate the killings of traditional leaders in Mpumalanga.

Contralesa President Kgosi Mathupa Mokoena says many traditional leaders have been killed, but no arrests have been made.

Mokoena says they have been complaining, but nothing has happened.

“Contralesa welcomes the formation of a task team by the Mpumalanga provincial government that will look into the killings of traditional leaders and members of the royal families and all those who are working in traditional leadership offices. This was announced by Hon. Speedy Mashilo, MEC for COGHSTA here in Mpumalanga,” says Mokoena.

He says that it is troubling them as traditional leadership and Contralesa that traditional leaders and members of the royal families were just being murdered and no arrests have been made.

“We are happy that something will be done. Two days ago, the secretary to the Jongilanga traditional authority was gunned down in his own house,” adds Mokoena.
