At Nasrec Expo Centre, today members of the All United Amhara Association are calling for the stop of the persecution of the Amhara people in Ethiopia.
Various organisations, including the Ethiopian group All Amhara United Association, are demonstrating just outside the Nasrec Expo Centre, south of Johannesburg.
This, as world leaders continue meeting as part of the G20 Leaders’ Summit underway at Nasrec.
Earlier, chaos erupted as police fired rubber bullets to disperse the protesters, including members of uMkhonto we Sizwe and Operation Dudula, who were trying to march to the Nasrec Expo centre.

The Association’s Demissie Desalegn says that through their protest, they wanted to attract international attention to the targeted slaughtering of their ethnic group in Ethiopia.
“We are representing the Amhara people that are being slaughtered, murdered and Taye Atske Selassie committing genocide in our country, especially targeting our population, our ethnic group, Amhara and we’re here to expose his atrocities and war crimes to the G20 members and other international organisations.”
