Motorists travelling around the vicinity of the Nasrec Expo Centre, South of Johannesburg, are advised to expect major traffic delays this weekend, due to road closures as a result of G20 Leaders’ Summit.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department says motorists will face delays on roads that have been blocked due to the summit.
Some roads across Gauteng have been affected to allow world leaders to travel to and from the summit.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla has advised motorists to use alternative routes.
“With the closures and the opening, we can’t give you the exact times, but motorists can then just be aware that they could face close to 30 to 60 minute delays if those roads have been blocked off. So, just kindly be aware of that, especially on the major national roads within Gauteng. That’s the N14, the N1, R21, R24 and the M1; certain roads have been fully closed off, and others have been converted into dual carriageways.”
