Joburg EMS issues storm warning amid G20 summit

Johannesburg Emergency Services are urging motorists to exercise caution whilst driving this evening following a Level 1 Alert for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain. Motorists travelling around the Nasrec expo centre, south of Johannesburg, are also advised to use alternate routes due to a hard lockdown that’s currently in place as a result of the G20 leaders summit.

“The motorists who are driving in and around the City of Johannesburg should exercise caution, safe following distance and avoid roads which might be flooded and also low lying bridges from our side. We remain on high alert monitoring all regions for any emergencies which may occur throughout the City of Johannesburg,” says Joburg EMS Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi.
