The Johannesburg Metro Police Department says it’s aware of several planned protests, marches and pickets that are expected to take place from on Friday. These are expected within the Nasrec and Sandton areas ahead of the G20 world leaders’ summit.
G20 SOUTH AFRICA: Several roads will be closed or partially restricted as the City of Joburg hosts the G20 Leaders’ Summit at Nasrec from 22 to 23 November 2025.
Please plan your travel routes carefully and avoid G20 road blockades.

“The southern northern portion, which will be closed off from the N1 to Nasrec road and of course, then the southern portion will be converted. This is to allow constant traffic flow. This is to accommodate residents of Ormonde View, so they have access to their residential area. But of course, we’re also keeping a close eye and a lookout at any protests that might be happening within the City of Johannesburg,” says JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
