Ndimande brothers appear in court
Police will further investigate the money trail in the murder case of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes.
That’s according to KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi was reacting to the court appearance of the two alleged hitmen, brothers Malusi and Siyabonga Ndimande, in Durban.
This comes 18 months after the brothers were arrested in eSwatini.
They are being charged with the murder of Forbes and his friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, outside a Durban restaurant in 2023.
The Ndimande brothers were extradited to South Africa on Tuesday. The case has been remanded to the 25th of November.
Mkhwanazi says the business account of the alleged coordinator of the hit, Mziwethemba Gwabeni will be investigated further to see if someone else gave the order
“But we are investigating further the linkages of his business account with other partners that he has who transfer money into that business account. So, we are identifying all those whom he has a business interest that will have moved money into this account. And we are busy looking at those to establish exactly who above him might have requested him requested perhaps to coordinate this operation. But until we have that evidence, which is, as I said, from the business account where the monies are moved. There’s a lot of investigation work that needs to be done to prove that there is a relationship that might be corrupt, if there is any, with another party.”
