Investigating Directorate against Corruption (IDAC) Head Adv Andrea Johnson testifying before the Ad Hoc Committee at Parliament on November 6, 2025.
Investigating Directorate against Corruption (IDAC) Head Adv Andrea Johnson says they do not deal with the work of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
Johnson is testifying before the Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during a media briefing in July this year.
Johnson says the PKTT has nothing to do with them.
She says, “We work with the teams that deal with specialised matters, but the only serious team that I deal with was with the Serious Violent Crimes at the time. When I became the head of the IDAC, IDAC itself we only engage within, in terms of the law enforcement in the main, where the DPCI (Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation), which is the Hawks at the South African Revenue Services (SARS) and the financial intelligence centre and we have also did with Treasury when we have to do. We have engagement with the Auditor General’s office, but we have not worked with the PKTT because it has nothing to do with us.”
