Traditional leaders organisation, Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (Contralesa) says it will respond accordingly to the decision of African National Congress (ANC) members in the Eastern Cape legislature, who rejected a motion to offer traditional leaders medical aid and pension.
Contralesa President Kgosi Mathupa Mokoena says they will consult their members across the province following the rejection of the motion.
Mokoena says they are disappointed by the ANC members of legislature in the Eastern Cape for rejecting a motion that would have made it possible for all their traditional leaders and the kings in the Eastern Cape to have their medical aids and pensions.
“Contralesa wants to remind all those ANC members of the provincial legislature that they are in those positions because of the votes that come from rural areas that are under those traditional leaders and our kings that you are rejecting. Contralesa, we do not have a choice but to go around the Eastern Cape to visit all our kings and queens and inform them of this decision taken by members of the ANC in the provincial legislature in the Eastern Cape. Thank you very much ANC, we have the message, and we will respond accordingly,” says Mokoena.
