African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says the revelations at the Madlanga Commission exposing details about police corruption, if they are proven to be true, will delay South Africa in the fight against crime.

President Cyril Ramaphosa established the commission as a response to allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi that South Africa’s criminal justice system was compromised because of the infiltration of criminal syndicates into the justice cluster.
[WATCH Our organisation, the ANC must believe that we equal to the task. We must not hope. Leaders can’t be the ones complaining, where will the rest of the citizens get their hope from?#celebratingDrTTCholo

Mbalula says the commission must be allowed to do its work and finalize all necessary investigations.
“The most important thing what we are going to do with what is reported before at the commission, in the end, it must assist us to deal with the allegations. We must have a clear plan and programme to fight whatever is actually being alleged,” says Mbalula.
[WATCH] The Madlanga commission and Ad Hoc committee are very important. We must always remember why we got here. There are allegations being probed and we are very happy with the implementation of the agreed terms. The ANC will not be running a commentary on the commission.
