Security analyst Andy Mashaile says he hopes that the Police Minister Senzo Mchunu will provide clarity on his decision to disband the KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) when he appears before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on Thursday.
Mchunu, who is currently on leave, is at the centre of allegations made by KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of corruption and political interference within the criminal justice system.
He is the fourth witness to appear before the committee.
Mashaile says Mchunu has a very high mountain to climb.
He says, “We hope and pray that the minister will take us into his confidence and explain the reasons why was it that he thought that the PKTT must be disbanded, given the background of the data sets provided before us by the National Commissioner, General (Shadrack) Sibiya, General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi,” says Mashaile.
