Immanuela David and siblings Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph accused in the Phala Phala farm theft
The general manager at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm has told the Modimolle Regional Court in Limpopo that he was not aware there was money in the house.
He is the state’s sixth witness at the trial into the theft of 580 000 US dollars at the farm.
Immanuela David and siblings Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph allegedly broke into President Ramaphosa’s farm and stole the money in February 2020.
The witness testified that he did not examine surveillance footage of days prior to the break-in as he was not aware that anything was stolen during the burglary.
“I was at the crime scene and police arrived for the footage evidence of the persons or culprits in the footage going to the window. I wasn’t aware of the money in the house and I wasn’t aware of something stolen.”
Meanwhile, the court has heard that David allegedly purchased several vehicles to the value of about R4 million.
The witness, who is an employee at a car dealership in Gauteng, said David bought six vehicles paid for in dollars.
Two of the vehicles cost R1.2 million each. The witness testified that David told him that he sold diamonds from Namibia.
“About 1.2 million and the second G63 was around the same. The Porsche Carrera 4S was about R800 000. All the cars, dollars were used (for the purchase).”
