City Power recovers 150 kgs of stolen aluminium cables

City Power has revealed that it recently recovered about 150 kilograms of aluminium cables that are normally used in their streetlight infrastructure, worth R250 000.

The cables were found and confiscated during the power utility’s cut-off operation with law enforcement authorities, in Kya Sands, north of Johannesburg.

City Power says in an effort to fight against the scourge of illegal connections, during the operation it has also recovered several streetlight fittings in various houses across the area.

The power utility further emphasised that the increase in illegal connections in Kya Sands, continues to overload its network and result in frequent outages.
