Mthethwa’s family express gratitude for messages of support

The family of South Africa’s ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa, has expressed gratitude for the messages of support they have received from citizens and from many people around the world.

The Mthethwa and Buthelezi families said in a statement that the loss of Mthethwa as husband, father and brother left a void beyond words.

They further expressed their appreciation to the South African government, President Cyril Ramaphosa, senior government officials and the African National Congress (ANC) for their support during their time of sorrow.

The families also expressed gratitude to the French authorities, who they said were cooperating and transparent in the ongoing investigations.

Mthethwa died after falling from the 22nd floor of a Paris hotel earlier this week.

The family said they were also working closely with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) to bring Mthethwa home for a memorial and funeral worthy of his legacy.
