KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi arrives to give testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is expected to focus on Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s alleged associate Brown Mogotsi on Friday.
Mkhwanazi will continue to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.
He has fingered Mogotsi, a North West-based businessman, as one of the key figures who interfere in high-profile police investigations.
The Commission is investigating Mkhwanazi’s allegations that senior police officials, including Mchunu, are corrupt and have links to criminal syndicates.
Mchunu is currently on special leave following these allegations.
General Mkhwanazi told the Commission that the suspended Police Minister placed on record in parliament that he did not know who Brown Mogotsi was.
However, Mchunu would later change his version of events on social media X in a private conversation with another user that Mogotsi is his comrade.
Mkhwanazi has further testified that Mogotsi is linked to underworld figures with people who are not only involved in criminality, but also a subjects of police investigations.
Today, the KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner is expected to elaborate more on Mogotsi’s connection to Mchunu.
